Support for Families Raising Highly Sensitive and Neurodivergent Babies and Young Children

Comprehensive, connection-centered care for infants and young children from birth through age six whose nervous systems do not fit neatly within typical expectations. This is thoughtful, individualized support that looks beyond surface behaviors to understand the emotional, developmental, sensory, and physiological foundations beneath them.

When something feels different, we do not dismiss it. We slow down, assess patterns, and consider the full picture — sleep, feeding, regulation, sensory processing, medical history, and early developmental signs. If red flags emerge, you will not be left to navigate them alone. You will be guided through next steps with clarity, informed consent, and steady advocacy.

This is not simply sleep support. It is early neurodevelopmental insight for families parenting outside the bell curve.

Motherhood can be isolating under the best of circumstances. When your baby is highly sensitive, intensely reactive, or showing early neurodivergent traits, that isolation can deepen quickly.

You may find yourself surrounded by reassurance that does not match what you are experiencing. Family members, friends, acquaintances, and even medical professionals may tell you that “all babies do that,” that you are overthinking, or that time will resolve what feels urgent to you. While variability is normal in early childhood, frequency, intensity, and persistence matter. When crying is inconsolable, sleep is fragmented hourly, breathing is restless or mouth-based, feeding feels strained or inefficient, or regulation seems consistently fragile, those patterns deserve thoughtful evaluation rather than dismissal.

Labels such as “colic” are often used when the underlying cause has not been thoroughly investigated. Colic is a description of symptoms, not an explanation. It does not address airway integrity, feeding mechanics, reflux, sensory processing differences, nervous system regulation, developmental coordination, or neurodivergence. When families are told to “watch and wait” without a thorough assessment, valuable time can be lost. Early patterns provide meaningful information about physiology and neurodevelopment. The goal is not to pathologize normal variation, but to recognize when variation moves beyond expected ranges.

At The Early Neurodiversity Company, we approach these concerns comprehensively. We examine sleep architecture, feeding dynamics, breathing patterns, sensory responses, motor development, emotional regulation, medical history, and environmental factors as part of one integrated picture. If red flags are present, you will not be advised to simply wait and see. You will be supported in understanding what those signs may indicate and guided toward appropriate next steps with informed consent. This may include collaboration with pediatric providers, referrals for specialized evaluation, or adjustments that support your child’s nervous system immediately.

Supporting your baby now does not mean rushing into unnecessary intervention. It means responding proportionately to what is observable and persistent. It means respecting developmental science while also honoring parental intuition. It means understanding that some babies require more attunement, more regulation support, and more investigation—not less.

You are not imagining what you are seeing. You are interpreting patterns in a child whose nervous system may operate outside typical expectations. My role is to provide clinical context, developmental insight, and steady guidance so that you can move forward with clarity rather than confusion.

Hey! I’m Lauren.

I am a registered nurse (RN-BSN), certified lactation counselor (CLC), and pediatric sleep specialist with additional training in early neurodevelopment and nervous system regulation. I am also the mother of three highly sensitive, neurodivergent boys, which means I understand both the clinical and lived realities of parenting outside typical developmental expectations.

I support families navigating early childhood when something feels different, intense, or more complex than expected. While many parents initially reach out because of sleep disruption, sleep is rarely an isolated issue. It is often a reflection of a nervous system that requires closer attention.

My work extends beyond bedtime. I assess feeding dynamics, sensory processing patterns, emotional regulation, developmental milestones, medical history, and environmental factors that may be contributing to your child’s presentation. Rather than focusing on surface behaviors, we examine the underlying physiology and developmental context driving them.

If red flags emerge, we address them thoughtfully. I help you interpret what you are seeing, determine when further evaluation may be appropriate, and navigate referrals or next steps with informed consent. You will understand not only what options exist, but why they matter and how they align with your child’s nervous system and developmental profile.

This is comprehensive early neurodiversity support for infants and young children from birth through age six. It is grounded in clinical training, attachment-informed care, and a deep respect for neurodevelopmental differences. My role is to provide clarity, context, and steady guidance so you can move forward with confidence rather than confusion.

Ways We Can Work Together

  • The Early Foundations Session

This session provides a structured introduction to early neurodevelopment, nervous system regulation, sleep physiology, sensory processing, and common red flags in infancy and early childhood. Without requiring a detailed intake, we focus on building a clear framework so you can better understand your child’s patterns and make informed decisions moving forward. It is designed for parents who want grounded, science-informed context before pursuing more individualized support.

  • Integrative Neurodiversity Consultation

A comprehensive, intake-driven consultation that integrates sleep analysis with a full review of your child’s regulation, sensory processing, feeding, developmental history, and family environment. This offering includes a detailed sleep plan grounded in nervous system science, red flag screening, and guidance for therapy referrals or further evaluation when appropriate. Designed for families who want clear answers, structured support, and advocacy-informed next steps rather than reassurance and foundational knowledge alone.

“Where do I even begin? Working with Lauren was like sitting down with your mom BFF who really gets everything you’re going through. We signed up for help getting our 10 month old to nap. We ended up with a whole crew of local therapists, contacts, and a plan that will carry us through our child’s pre-school years. And yes, naps are so easy now. ”
